10:00amPeach Trees for Home LandscapesJim Kamas and Dr. Larry Stein, co-authors of the new book, The Texas Peach Handbook Jim is the Viticulture and Fruit Specialist for the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, based in Gillespie County (Fredericksburg). His job takes him across the state to work with fruit tree growers, helping them with cultivation, pruning, and crop and orchard management. Larry is a professor and horticulturist with the Texas A&M Research and Extension Service based in Uvalde. His emphasis is on most varieties of fruit, including using drip irrigation methods to conserve water. Following their talk, they sign copies of The Texas Peach Handbook. |

11:00amDiscovering New Plants for TexasDr. Jerry Parsons Great plants for don't just happen. Years of research go into developing and adapting plants that are both drought and heat tolerant. Before retiring in 2008, Jerry was a professor and horticulture specialist for Texas A&M and the Extension Service. During his 33-year tenure he was instrumental in introducing more than 40 plant varieties to the gardening public. He was one of the founders of the CEMAP plant introduction and marketing program, which is the basis for the annual introduction of the Texas SuperstarT plant selections. He is the founder of the PlantAnswers.com website, and co-host of Milberger's Gardening South Texas on KLUP Radio. |

Mark is a Project Coordinator for San Antonio Water System's Conservation Department. He has a special interest in talking about landscapes that are both beautiful in design and water efficient. Over the past decade, patios have become an important decorative and entertainment feature of new homes, and Spanish-style courtyards are a natural for South Texas. Prior to joining SAWS, Mark worked with the Texas Forest Service as Regional Community Forester. He also served as president of the Texas Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture in 2001 and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Texas Forest Service. |

1:00pmHeirloom Bulbs for TexasDanny Fowler Learn about the great variety of naturalizing bulbs that dedicated bulb hunters discover in old homesteads and rural Central Texas, and how to incorporate and grow them in your own yard. Danny is a founding member of the Texas Flower Bulb Society in Austin. Originally from West Texas, he majored in French and Modern French Literature, earning degrees from the University of Paris, the Sorbonne, and the University of Illinois. Currently grows heirloom flowering bulbs, tulips and many other flowering bulbs at his urban farm in Austin all while continuing to ponder the existential character of human/plant interaction. He spends many hours volunteering with Austin's EAGER program for school age children where he shares his horticulture expertise. |

Henry will demonstrate how to make bouquets and tablescapes. One bridal bouquet will be given away. Henry is one of San Antonio's top floral designers for events and weddings, and is the creator of the Festival of Flowers entry archway.
